LADRONES EN HARLEM BY RICARDO MUNIZ
On a brisk fall day in New York City, Puerto Rican art photographer, Ricardo Muñiz, and famed NY designer and former supermodel, Adrian Alicea of Nico and Adrian NY, joined together with a crew of rising, young models to experiment with an idea they had brainstormed weeks earlier: paying tribute to the history of Adrian’s famed Harlem neighborhood with a couture editorial. The result is this experimental series titled, “Ladrones en Harlem.”
For decades, Harlem has been considered the capital of African-American culture in the US: from the glorious colored writers of the Harlem Renaissance to the presepresent-day offices of former US president, Bill Clinton; from the famed Harlem Globetrotters to the gangsters recently portrayed in the movie, American Gangster; Harlem has it all—history, culture, art, literature, politics, crime and now, with this series, couture.
