As curious as this may seems to you, the land of the Hollywood sign is not own by the city of Los Angeles, and the most desirable hill is now up for sale for $22 million, can you believe that !!!? After all the HOLLYWOODLAND sign was created as an advertisement for a housing development in 1923 and since it has become one of the most famous landmarks in the world.

Residents worried that building there would spoil one of the most famous postcard views in the world. and it will sure spoil it but think of the view you will get from your pool ;-) it is also a perfect spot to enjoy the year round wild fires of Southern California !!!!

The sign and the land it sits on IS owned by the City of Los Angeles. The parcel of land that is for sale is just west of the sign.
