OHLALA THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL CARNIVAL ...

If you think that carnival is all about Samba, loud music and colorful feathers ... think again!

If I picture a carnival celebration in Brazil, what comes to my mind first is the famous Sambadrome, that's why this year we invite you to the another town where people celebrate carnival after covering themselves (and sometimes their dogs and horses) with mud from a mangrove swamps near the mouth of the Amazon river. I am not crazy about mud but looking at the picture above I wouldn't mind taking a deep in the swamp, or help some locals to wash away the mud ;-)

Let's cross the Ocean and visit a town located in the northern Italian Piedmont. Each year in Ivrea people celebrate the traditional orange throwing battle that has its roots in the middle of the XIXth century. As you can see some are wearing protections and some ... well they just end up with an orange on their broken nose !!! I would love to celebrate carnival this way to some people I know ... don't you !? ;-) If you are tired of your boss ... then throw an orange on his face and just tell him that is how they celebrate carnival in Italy ... lol!

Let's go back to Rio de Janeiro for a minute where the Unidos do Viradouro samba school went for a very particular float this year depicting the Holocaust ! A Rio de Janeiro judge banned them from participating to the celebrations "Carnival should not be used as an instrument of hatred, any kind of racism and clear trivialisation of barbaric and unjustified acts against minorities."

Far out, man!!! Far out in the future, that is. An extra zero in the first graphic takes us 18,000 years into the future. Cool!
