OHLALA GETS PERSONAL WITH JAMES ELLIS :-)
We have met James on various occasions. He was at the Tan for a Cause in Weho, he was also one of the Rufskin models, but also Timoteo we even photographed him for Andrew Christian, as you can see on the images below. James is a great guy and we are really happy to have him on OhLaLa today.
While preparing this interview, I have realized that James was the one on the cover of Jacke Brooks The Monster Slayer that we have mentioned on OhLaLa a few months ago...
How did you get into modeling?
JE: In college I got into bodybuilding and transformed my skinny cross-country runner body into more of a fitness body. After a bodybuilding competition a photographer (Brian Williams) asked me if he could do some shots with me as he felt I would make a good model. As a result, I ended up with some great images and friends were telling me that I should think about pursuing modeling. I don’t think anyone ever thought I’d actually pack my bags and move from small town Indiana to Los Angeles, but here I am to stay.
You have an amazing body. What is your secret?
JE: Everyone has their own little secrets; however, I keep it to the basics. Plenty of sleep, clean diet, workout 5-6 days a week, and God just blessed me with good genes. I lift weights about five days a week (abs all five days) and I run 3-5 days a week.
What was your favorite photo shoot lately?
JE: I always have to give credit to photographer Noel Daganta for helping to get me started in the very beginning and to Ken of Serg Studios for getting me my first fitness cover. Other than that, there are so many great photographers that I’ve worked with and I wish I could give credit to all of them. Adam Bouska did a great photo shoot with me and has really helped put me on the map through his website and marketing. Photographers Jason Ellis, Keith Munyan, Robert Reiff, Martin Ryter, & Joaquin Palting have all given me great images that ended up in fitness magazines. My most recent shoot was a fashion shoot with Tom Cullis and he produced some amazing photos.
Tell us more about where do you see your self 5 years from now?
JE: Five years from now I hope to have a successful career in the film industry. I do have a movie coming up that has cast me as one of the lead roles. My hope is that this film will spark many more projects in the near future. Of course, I also plan to build a more successful career in modeling.
What would be your dream photo shoot?
JE: My dream photo shoot would be a shoot that lands me a billboard in an area such as Time Square or Hollywood.
Well that's something we hope to see soon ;-) Thank you James for your time ...
JE: I just want to thank Ohlala mag (Alek & Steph) for giving me this incredible opportunity to interview with such a popular website. It would be an honor to come back any time you will have me. I also want to thank my manager/assistant and one of my best friends Renee Watroba for all she has done for me in the field of acting and modeling. She has really helped me to make my dreams a reality and continues to do so each and everyday. Thanks to another one of my best friends Noel Daganta for sharing your incredible skills of web design, photography, and videography and never asking anything in return. Thank you to Dr. Howard Flaks for being a friend and for introducing me to key people in the industry. Thanks also to my friends and fans for all your words of encouragement and for always having my back when it comes to voting at the online competitions. Finally, thanks to my family for loving, supporting, and believing in me no matter what the circumstances. I love you all very much and don’t know what I’d do without you.
