Richard Avedon is one if not my favorite photographer. If you are in Basel, Switzerland you have to visit the Art/39 featuring a picture by Richard Avedon called “Andy Warhol and members of the factory”. See the un-canned picture HERE 😉 It is ART but in the sad days we are living some might call it NSFW!
Richard Avedon was born in New York City to a Jewish-Russian family. In 1944, he began working as an advertising photographer for a department store, but was quickly discovered by Alexey Brodovitch, the art director for the fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar. Avedon was always interested in how portraiture captures the personality and soul of its subject. On October 1, 2004, he suffered a brain hemorrhage in San Antonio, Texas while shooting an assignment for The New Yorker. At the time of his death, Avedon was working on a new project titled On Democracy to focus on the 2004 U.S presidential election.
