Congratulations to Michael Phelps who won his first gold medal ... 7 more to go !!! Yes Michael Phelps would need 8 gold medals to be the next Spitz. Spitz, the former IU swimmer and Olympic legend, had seven gold medals in the 1972 Games in Munich. These Games began on 8-8-8 and eight is a special number in the Chinese culture, so 8 gold medals for Michael !!? To be continued ...
Besides winning the gold medal, Michael Phelps set a new world record! Minutes before the start of the 400-meter individual medley final, something unusual happened. "I started getting these chills up my body," Phelps said. "Right then, I knew I was starting to get more and more excited." Keep getting excited Michael ... it works!
Congrats to him and the guy next to him in the pool.His name is Laszlo Cseh, he is hungarian like me and he became first.Hungary is proud!!!
