STRANGER IN PARADISE BY PHILIP LORCA DI CORCIA
Philip Lorca DiCorcia is considered one of the most influential photographers of all time. DiCorcia is known for his street scene photo productions, where he cast his subjects, which include homeless people, hustlers, etc.
We had the opportunity to recently visit the LACMA in Los Angeles for a retrospective of his work, unfortunately this exhibition stopped this past sunday (sept 14th).
The current issue of W magazine has given away 21 spreads from his Cairo series. See the photos here.
One of my favorite series is called "Stranger in Paradise" from W magazine.
That last photo was taken at Windows On The World, which was a restaurant at the top of one of the World Trade Center towers in New York City that were destroyed during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11th. It's kind of sad to run pictures like that.

It's kind of sad to make comments like that! You suggest we should burn and erase everything that once was connected to this landmark. How stupid are you?

No, I didn't say it was wrong to use this photo. It makes me sad because I live in NYC and knew three people who were killed in the World Trade Center. Do you have a smart ass remark for that, asshole?

I do, I do! Of course you didn't SAY it was wrong, you just IMPLIED it. I had friends who died that day too (not really, but considering the number of people who claim to, might as well just add one more), and of course it's sad that they died, but not thinking about it doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Why not celebrate the beauty that was rather than harp on the sadness?
Or maybe you're related to the former mayer and everything in the entire world now relates to 9/11... and of course is the democrats fault.
