OHLALA INVITES YOU TO AFI SCREENING AT THE CHINESE THEATER OF DIM SUM FUNERAL
DIM SUM FUNERAL recently had its world premiere screening at the 13th Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea, where it was very well received. We missed it but we can not miss it's L.A. premier, and will fly there all the way from Paris to see it ...
The date for the AFI screening is confirmed for Wed., Nov 5 at 12 noon, at Hollywood & Highland's Mann 6 (The Mann Chinese 6 Theaters). The film is written by our friend and amazing scenarist Donald Martin, directed by Anna Chi, and stars Russell Wong, Bai Ling, Lisa Lu, Kelly Hu, and Talia Shire. The director and some of the cast will be on hand for the screening. To purchase tickets please call 1 866 AFI FEST or go to www.afi.com/AFIFest.
DIM SUM FUNERAL revolves around the lives of estranged adult siblings from
A Chinese-American family who are summoned home to Seattle by their former
nanny to mourn the death of their mother. The four Westernized children each
have their own issues to resolve but reluctantly work together to fulfill
their mother’s dying wish of a traditional Chinese funeral. In the process,
they soon discover more about themselves and their mother than they ever
fathomed. The film is a touching and funny look at the tenets of tradition
and the idiosyncrasies of family.
