COMPLAINS POUR INTO BBC AFTER EASTENDERS SCREENS GAY KISS ON PRIME TIME
BBC has been flooded with complaints after screening a gay kiss on EastEnders before the 9pm watershed. The 'offensive' scenes were screened on Tuesday's episode of the soap and showed Christian Clarke (John Partridge, 36) and Lee Thompson (Carl Ferguson, 27) engage in a passionate kiss. In a statement the BBC defended itself by saying it was down to parents to decide whether the content of the show was suitable for children to watch.
'This is disgraceful whilst young children are watching and sets the wrong example.' 'I had to explain to my seven-year-old son what was happening. He now thinks he is gay because he kisses his dad.' Those are some of the letters recived by the BBC. [Daily Mail]

What does it say about a society when a dad lets his seven year-old son watch Eastenders? What, you don't get enough of the hookers, criminals and drunks in real life?

Expressions of love shouldn't be considered offensive.

why, lady is explaining to this 7 year old a bad thing?!
No doubt the way she explained it turned it into a bad thing... but it's her fault if her 7 year old doesn't understand, no-one elses.

Offensive !! ????? what about the rest of the crap that everyone on eastenders gets up to? the murders, affairs, scams etc... surely brainwashing every infant, middle aged fool and old crone.... one should be able to screen a kiss between anyone at anytime.
What a pitiful bunch of souls.
please screen Queer as Folk again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is sorry, isn't this a soap opra? Why is a 7 yr old watching?
And such a lame excuse, so when he sees a man kiss a woman, does he think he is in love with his mother?

Bravo to BBC for standing up to the presure and placing the burden on the parents to screen what their children watch.
The sad part is that there are people who believe it is their right to have edited views of the world, pre-packaged and "safe" for the continuing ingorance of themselves and their spawn.

Why the hell was a 7 year old child watching EastEnders anyway? I know that British views on raunchy and risque differe than Americans, but even as an American I can tell it should be at least PG14.
