OHLALA SHANE JENEK AKA COURTNEY ACT

Courtneyact1612802

Let me introduce you to Shane Jenek aka Courtney Act. Most of you already know Courtney as one of the contestants on Australian Idol, but we will go back to that in a minute. So Shane Jenek is actually the host of Surf Camp [OhLaLa Surf Camp Session 2] and I hope that you guys have voted for your favorite boy already! If not go to Surf Cam Same Same.

As I have mentioned Shane Jenek who is originally from Brisbane auditioned for Australian Idol in 2003 as himself but did not get beyond the preselection audition. Returning the next day as Courtney Act, he wowed the judges and went through to the semifinals! Watch below the auditions and one of Courtney Australian Idol performances.

Courtney or was it Shane .. well I am not sure now ... was kind enough to take some time and answer a couple of questions from my favorite questionary ever Proust's one! The second part of the questionary after the jump but before, have you ever seen a Drag Queen selling makeup on morning television !? ... I am sure some toasts dropped into their coffees that morning in Australia ;-)

Q: What is your favorite occupation?

SJ: I am not sure if what I do is classified as an occupation… but what ever it is, I love it!

Q: Where would you like to live?

SJ: I am planning on heading to London next year for an extended stay. I am excited/nervous about this. I love love love the Australian weather, be it summer or winter, and I am dreading the London weather. I know there is so much more to London than it’s weather, there are so many exciting opportunities and experiences awaiting… Ideally I would like to spend 6 months of the year (the summer ones) in Sydney, and the other 6 summer months in Europe or North America. I have been warming up to it the last couple of years, and 2009 I hope to make it so.

Q: Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?

SJ: Do The Spice Girls count as fiction? I think so. I loved them so much. They were the hero’s of my childhood. Geri was my favorite. Everything about them made me feel so empowered. I loved their fashion, their hair, their make-up and I loved their spunk. They just did stuff that you shouldn’t do, I love challenging the status quo.

Q: Your favorite virtue?

SJ: Truth. There is nothing else.

Q: What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

SJ: Creatively there are always things to be inspired by fashion, nature, music, there is this club I have just discovered across the road from my house that ROCKS every Saturday night... that is pretty cool and turns me on creatively!. I have many wonderful creative friends. At the moment I am doing a regular club show in Sydney. I sit in front of the makeup mirror on Friday nights painting my face, taking my time and always doing something different with my makeup. My business partner in WigsByVanity.com is also my best friend and co-performer Vanity Faire who is just such an amazing makeup artist. I love turning up to the show and seeing what she has done with her face every week. Spiritually speaking Oprah turns me on! Oprah is my home girl. I have been listening to her Soul Series podcast for the last few weeks and they are like like 30minute injections of audible soul food. So many wonderful ideas and people. I love reading too, my book list piling up at the moment, every time I listen to another podcast (Oprah generally interviews authors) I buy another book. Some might say I am a victim of blind faith, but I truly love Oprah and believe she is one of the greatest and most influential people in today’s world.

Emotionally I am turned on by all of the people around me. I have a wonderful boyfriend, friends, parents. It is so nice to appreciate those special relationships so much more as you grow up, enjoy the good times and support each other through the struggles.

Q: Your most marked characteristic?

SJ: I always seem to have energy and I am always jiggling. I bounce around the house, I skip down the street, sometimes some might argue that I have too much energy, but I think it is just the right amount. I also think one of my secrets to staying trim is that I jiggle all the time, while normal people are sitting still I am burning calories. I heard that excessive jiggling can be a sign of early on-set parkinsons... at least I'll still be fun in the sack when I'm old!

Q: What is your most treasure possession?

SJ: I don’t think I have a physical most treasured possession… probably my memories. I love a good flash back. When chatting with friends and remembering a funny or outrageous story. "Remember that time at Mardi Gras when you ..."I love it when I go to do something and it tweaks a childhood memory. Or when I smell a lady wearing Coco Chanel and I think of my Mum, I love that fragrance, it is like a soft, warm hug!
