WOMENS ARE HEROES / MADONNA PAY A VISIT TO RIO'S FAVELAS
Yesterday, as planned, Madonna and Rio de Janeiro governor Sergio Cabral went to Morro Dona Marta, one of Rio's favelas. This is part of a series of meetings to discuss social projects in the country.
On tuesday night as the guest of honor at Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista's home she showed a two-hour video presentation of her projects in Africa to a group of rich and influential people. According to one of the guests she became emotional and cried when she received a donation of $6.5 million!

The photos of the favelas are from a project called “Women are Heroes” by a French photographer who identifies himself as JR. Giant photographs of women covered the walls of homes in Rio's favelas, portraits of women whose loved ones were killed by police.
