Here is our first look at Madonna’s new collection of sunglasses for Dolce & Gabbana aka MDG [Absolument Madonna] The sunglasses, which bear the letter M on the arm, mark the first co-branded collaboration that the design duo has ever undertaken.
“We’re so excited. Designing an eyewear line with Madonna was a new experience for us. This further strengthens our relationship with Madonna, and it was a very constructive experience for us. She is very exacting and a professional who seeks perfection in everything she does, and this was no exception. The oversized and wraparound designs are sexy and very feminine, like our clothes. Madonna’s creative contribution and unique point of view were key, even in designing the MDG logo.”
The collection, which will be produced and distribute by Luxottica, Dolce & Gabbana’s eyewear licensee, will go on sale this May retailing from €180 to €210 at Dolce & Gabbana stores worldwide and at the Sunglass Hut.
Madonna, who fronts this season’s Dolce & Gabbana campaign, also stars in the advertising images for the sunglasses line. They were also shot by Steven Klein, inspired by “film noir”, and will be released in May to coincide with the launch.
