Madonna: New Men's Fragrance + Interviews + Tour + Promos
Madonna is a busy woman, no breaking news here.
She is rehearsing for her upcoming 6 months tour starting next month in Europe + Middle East then she will be going to North America and then South America ... Australia should be added next.
Then she still has to promote her album MDNA. The album started number before selling as "little" as 19,250 copies in the 3rd week of its release according to forbes:
"Sources predict “MDNA” sold around 20,000 copies last week, more than 50% lower than its second week and miles away from its debut three weeks ago with a controversial 359,000 copies. Of course, that first week is colored by Madonna selling 185,000 copies of the CD that were “bundled” with concert tickets. The numbers were inflated. In the second week, the reality set in. The sales drop is all the more profound considering that amazon.com was selling two versions of “MDNA” — one digital, one physical — for just $5. Even that move didn’t boost sales."
Those numbers have nothing to do with the quality of her work (I love this album) but rather to the time we live in. Today things have to be fast, you gotta be on top fast and then people move on. Especially here in the US, I have been "mesmerized" by this way-of-living. People move on to the next best thing here like I have never experienced before. And once it's over people are over it. As a consumer it creates a sort of unsatisfying factor that I am not a fan of.
But I am so not worry for Madonna, her tour will be a great success. And this album is pretty fantastic, I am addicted to a few songs already like Gang Bang!
So there's the tour but there's also the promotion of her new fragrance, Truth or Dare. Check out the Macy's event from last week if you haven't done yet.
Great news for nous les hommes! Madonna is working on a male companion for this first fragrance:
"I think it would be good to do a men’s fragrance, as well. My daughter thinks so. She wants to wear it. She likes to wear men’s cologne — don’t ask me why. I love musk and amber and woody kind of fragrances on men. I love the smell of whiskey - we should make a men’s cologne that smells like whiskey. I can’t drink it, it’s too strong, but it smells amazing — a really good old whiskey."
Ok I loved the idea of musk and amber and woody fragrance, it is my favorites too, but the smell of whiskey I just can't. First I hate driking it and the smell makes me sick, so let's hope it will be a very light after note ... a far far away homage to whiskey.
In other news, Madonna took some time to sit with journalists from around the world. She gave an interview to tf1 a French television that aired in France last week where she talks about her connection to France, bien sur, from her private life to artistic life. Watch the interview en français after the jump and the US interview where she was asked about cigarettes here.
