LOS ANGELES ART SHOW

It is a common misconception that everything arty and fashionable in this country always takes place in NYC. Even though most of the time this is correct assumption the times are changing and Los Angeles is becoming a vibrant stage for international fashion and in this case ART.



This year Los Angeles ART Show is taking place in the Convention Center (downtown L.A.) and is open not only to dealers and collectors but to all art lovers, and till Sunday 25th of January. It is a perfect mix of contemporary art and some very old classical pieces.



We have picked a few illustration of presented art but there is much more than that. Some of our favorite artists presented this year are: Lillian Bassman, Ben Freeman, Bryan El Castillo, and Bryan El Castillo.

LOOKING BACK AT THE ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH

Here are a few shots taken by our friend Mike at the Art Basel Miami that takes place every December in Miami Beach, Florida. When we were living in Paris Alek and I were always going to the FIAC, it is very inspiring.

I know Los Angeles will held its fourteenth FADA in January 21-25 at the convention center but unfortunately I will be traveling to France for that exact same weekend for my goddaughter first birthday (FYI, FADA where I am from in the south of France is a word people use when they refer to a crazy person ... lol!) After all you have to be a little bit nuts to be a real artist ;-)

OHLALA ... SO ARTSY!

Dadaist artist Robert Wolf was painted today with ashes of real burned Swiss banknotes during an event in Zurich to protest the global financial crisis. The Dadaism is an avant-garde movement of anarchic protest founded in Zurich during the World War I.

OHLALA ROSS WATSON'S MODELS!

It is always a pleasure to see Ross Watson's models on the canvas but if we can get them in the flesh ... we won't say no ;-) On the painting above, Luca, in a painting inspired by Georgione's meditative youth, and below, Luca.

DANIEL GRAIG IS SUCH A SEXY DOLL!

If you want to play with Daniel Craig, this may be your only solution, sorry! But it's better than nothing and I have to say that it looks pretty good. In fact it's just amazing! Those dolls are made by Filipino Artist Noel Cruz (below), and are going for sale on e-bay. Daniel Craig was sold for only $863.87.



His latest auction a couple of weeks ago, Angeline Jolie (above) $4,300!



Some can be commissioned such as Nicole Kidman below. But don't contact him because he is totally over booked and he is not taking commissions right now.



Noel Cruz started doing portraits at a very young age. Self-taught for several years, he studied the works of numerous artists in his native country, the Philippines. OHLALA GOREN BY ROSS WATSON

Here's a recent painting featuring one of Berlin's hottest models, Goren, before an equally dramatic figure by Caravaggio. Purchased this week a day after the painting was finished, it will soon hang in a loving home in Trump World Tower, NYC.

OHLALA ANDY WARHOL AND MEMBERS OF THE FACTORY BY RICHARD AVEDON

Richard Avedon is one if not my favorite photographer. If you are in Basel, Switzerland you have to visit the Art/39 featuring a picture by Richard Avedon called "Andy Warhol and members of the factory". See the un-canned picture HERE ;-) It is ART but in the sad days we are living some might call it NSFW!

Richard Avedon was born in New York City to a Jewish-Russian family. In 1944, he began working as an advertising photographer for a department store, but was quickly discovered by Alexey Brodovitch, the art director for the fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar. Avedon was always interested in how portraiture captures the personality and soul of its subject. On October 1, 2004, he suffered a brain hemorrhage in San Antonio, Texas while shooting an assignment for The New Yorker. At the time of his death, Avedon was working on a new project titled On Democracy to focus on the 2004 U.S presidential election.

"THE BODY NUDE" RODIN'S EXHIBITION MADRID SPAIN

"The Age bronze" by Rodin is one of the 33 sculptures and 90 drawings from "The Body Nude" exhibition in Madrid Spain.

BANKSY OPENS THE CAN FESTIVAL IN LONDON

If you live in London you have to go and see this. A giant new exhibition space created by famed graffiti artist Banksy opens today, May 3rd, 2008.

The disused tunnel beneath Waterloo station has been transformed by 40 artists from around the world. The three day event, tagged as The Cans festival, also invites the public to add their own stencil art. So cool !!!! "I'm hoping we can transform a dark forgotten filth pit into an oasis of beautiful art".

Unlike many of Banksy's previous stunts, the exhibition was approved by Eurostar, which manages the site under its old train platform at Waterloo Station. The event, which is free, will be held in the tunnel Saturday through Monday May 5th.

My favorites are the one above with the angel and the one below, just genius!
