Look who is in town to celebrate Carnival holidays: Matthew McConaughey! Those photos were taken at Ipanema beach, hours before the actor enjoy the samba at Sambódromo! Matthew McConaughey is really enjoying is time in Brazil ... so are we! He is actually staying at the gorgeous Fasano hotel on Ipanema beach. He is looking good and relaxed! Top Model Gisele Bündchen and actor Kevin Spacey are also there for Carnival. Sharon Stone is rumored to arrive later today in Rio to enjoy Carnival at Sambódromo and promote the World Peace One show. Thanx Diego!

GRUMARI BEACH! BRAZIL

We are having a fabulous time in Florida right now and we will have lot of photos to share with you this week, but just for a moment let's go further south, to the golden beaches of Brazil. Diego Reboucas one of our corespondents from Rio de Janeiro had the chance to go to western region of the city where you can find the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches in Rio.

The first beach is named Prainha, and next to it is Grumari, the beach for the surfers, surrounded by rolling hills, covered with a lush tropical forest. An area of environmental protection of the city and the access to it is forbidden for buses and a limited number of vehicles.

The most prestigious brazilian woman to ever step into Hollywood, Carmen Miranda – if alive today (February 9th) – would be celebrating her 100th birthday. Owner of a unique style, that was all about color, sensuality and joy, Carmen was already one of the most acclaimed Brazilian artists by the time she first stepped in USA (in 1939, invited by producer Lee Shubert to perform at Broadway).



On stage, singing and dancing, her personality conquered fans like Judy Garland and Greta Garbo. She caused such a frenesi that 5th Avenue stores started selling clothes celebrating her style and soon she was making musical films for Hollywood. Carmen became such success that, by 1945, she was pointed by the IRS as the most well-paid woman in the USA!



Her metheorical stardom was abruptly stopped by a heart attack at the night of August 4th 1955, shortly after she recorded a participation in the famous Jimmy Durante Show. Carmen was only 46 years old.
