Australia / David Pocock Boycotts Marriage Until Gays Have Same Right

00

23 year old Australian Rugby player, David Pocock, says he won’t marry his girlfriend until Australia legalizes gay marriage! [source]

“More than 60 per cent of Australians are in favor of same-sex marriage, so it just doesn’t make sense to stop it from happening. For a lot of Christians, it’s a big issue and I know there’s a lot of people who don’t share the same opinion as me. It comes down to equal love. I don’t think it’s the government’s role to tell people that their love is right or wrong. I guess it is fear of the unknown – if you talk to someone who doesn’t like gay people you can almost guarantee that they don’t know too many. Emma and I decided not to get legally married until our gay friends could do the same”

Just because and to "illustrate" this article I have selected random photos of David Pocock training, stretching and playing with his Wallabies teammates ;-) All the photos after the jump.

The fight for marriage equality is still one of the most important civil rights battles being fought across the world. Have you seen this video produced for the Australian marriage equality campaign!? [OhLaLa Uncut] Well, "it's time" and it's I have to say the best campaign I have seen advocating gay rights! Go Australia! Go LGBT! And thanx David Pocock for your support.

Gay Marriage Legal In New York State

Nyc

New York made history tonight as the State Senate voted yes on gay marriage [33-29]

That will be a weekend pride to remember in New York!!!!

Now as someone who was not born and raised in this country the complex legal-juridic system of the USA can be a 'bit' confusing. As I have said it is an historical night ... even though i remember when California also had its night of history followed by another historical night banning gay marriage which will hopefully be overturn by the end of the year ...

The big gain here is going to be in the security, clarity and dignity that comes with being able to say,"We are married," said Evan Wolfson, president of Freedom to Marry, an advocacy group in New York.“This is above love and commitment, more than the legal and economic matters.”

Thankfully many many people in this country keep fighting for the right rights and tonight we can only encourage them and congratulate the Senat of the State of New York for their decision.

CALIFORNIA / PROPOSITION 8 UNCONSTITUTIONAL

California

This is a fantastic news. California is moving forward in recognizing gay and lesbian couples who simply want to marry the person they love.

Judge Vaughn Walker has declared Proposition 8, the measure banning same-sex marriage in California, unconstitutional !!!!!!

"Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed, the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California Constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same-sex couples. Because California has no interest in discriminating against gay men and lesbians, and because Proposition 8 prevents California from fulfilling its constitutional obligation to provide marriages on an equal basis, the court concludes that Proposition 8 is unconstitutional."

Gay01

"Because Proposition 8 is unconstitutional under both the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses, the court orders entry of judgment permanently ... prohibiting the official defendants [state of California] from applying or enforcing Proposition 8..."

In a separate order, Walker also granted supporters of Proposition 8 a temporary stay, which stops his decision from taking immediate effect. They had argued, prior to his ruling, that same-sex marriages would be performed soon after his decision and could be complicated by rulings and appeals further down the legal road. Walker gave both sides in the case until Friday to submit their responses to the order.

WHO WILL COME OUT ON MAY 5th?

Gay01

May 5th aka Cinco De Mayo will also be known as THE MOST IMPORTANT COMING OUT EVER! besides your own coming out bien sur.

Cinco De Mayo may or may not be an indication of our celebrity's ethnic background. Are we talking about someone from Mexico and in that case could it be Mario Lopez!? Or is this just a trick to confuse us?

So which Hollywood celebrity is going to come out on May 5? People Magazine allegedly has the exclusive.

Celebrity PR Howard Bragman doesn't want to speculate on who it will be. "Most publicists keep their clients in the closet. And I'm the guy people tend to come to when they want to come out of the closet."

Because Howard Bragman does not want to speculate on who it will be, I have decided I will (fantasize) for a minute ;-)

So here is our coming out wish-list:

Mario Lopez
Chances 50% (Just because I want him to be gay!)
Ryan Kwanteen
Chances 80% (True Blood is about to kick a new season and the audience will sure embrace this announcement)
Zac Efron
Chances: 30% (Already famous he's having an Hollywood-actor-career identity crises and cannot get the High School stuff out of his image ... this will sure do)
Tom Cruise
Chances: 99.99% (with 100% of chances that it will not happen in this lifetime)
Taylor Lautner
Chances: 30% (But with the Twilight thing on his shoulder$ the chances are down to 0,01%)
Hugh Jackman
Chances: 70% (we all saw his Oscar performance and there's no way a gay man can do that!)

Gay02

As for the women's ... does anyone cares !? Just kidding ... anyway for some weird reasons Lesbians are much more accepted than gay men. Just ask any straight dude what he likes on his porn. And as far as I am concerned it could be Megan Fox, that would boost ticket's sale of her next movie, or Betty White that I love but who would do anything for publicity lately, even the opening of an hot dog place. You have until May 5th to speculate or brag with your friend that you know but can't reveal who will be the celebrity to come out ;-) 9 days to go ...

HE'S OUT ... RICKY MARTIN

Ricky01

We are so happy that since he became a father, Ricky Martin felt the need to let the world know that he is 'fortunate homosexual man' and we could not be more proud of him :-) :-)

Yes my friend, the latin lover has come out of the closet in an statement on his official website:

A few months ago I decided to write my memoirs, a project I knew was going to bring me closer to an amazing turning point in my life. From the moment I wrote the first phrase I was sure the book was the tool that was going to help me free myself from things I was carrying within me for a long time. Things that were too heavy for me to keep inside. Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth. And thisis something worth celebrating.

For many years, there has been only one place where I am in touch with my emotions fearlessly and that's the stage. Being on stage fills my soul in many ways, almost completely. It's my vice. The music, the lights and the roar of the audience are elements that make me feel capable of anything. This rush of adrenaline is incredibly addictive. I don't ever want to stop feeling these emotions. But it is serenity that brings me to where I'm at right now. An amazing emotional place of comprehension, reflection and enlightenment. At this moment I'm feeling the same freedom I usually feel only on stage, without a doubt, I need to share.

Many people told me: "Ricky it's not important", "it's not worth it", "all the years you've worked and everything you've built will collapse", "many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature". Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth. Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions.

If someone asked me today, "Ricky, what are you afraid of?" I would answer "the blood that runs through the streets of countries at war...child slavery, terrorism...the cynicism of some people in positions of power, the misinterpretation of faith." But fear of my truth? Not at all! On the contrary, It fills me with strength and courage. This is just what I need especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things every day. To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where born with. Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment.

These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed.

What will happen from now on? It doesn't matter. I can only focus on what's happening to me in this moment. The word "happiness" takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution.

I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.

So happy for you Ricky, you will sure make your kids proud :-)

MEXICO CITY ROCKS /
SAME SEX MARRIAGE & ADOPTION

Mexicoposterflag

Today is an historic day for Mexico as Mexico City legalized same-sex marriage and adoption by same-sex couples.

By a vote of 39 to 20 [5 abstentions] the city's legislative assembly approved revisions to the civil code to permit same-sex marriages. The revision will change the definition of marriage to a union between two people, instead of the current version, which specifies a union between a man and a woman.

Mexico-01

This amazing news comes just two years after the legislators approved same-sex civil unions. Mexico City is becoming the second major Latin American city to legalize same-sex marriage after Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I know that some European countries and a few states in the US already allow same sex marriage but I am so proud that a country like Mexico is showing to the world and Uganda in particular right now that even a quite religious place can actually respect human rights.
