2009 GAY PRIDE IN PARIS FRANCE

Today we are taking you to Paris for the Gay Pride, with some photos we have just received from our friend Vincent. Liza Minnelli opened the Gay Pride in Paris earlier today "Freedom" she cried, dancing on a float along with Paris gay mayor Bertrand Delanoe.



Unlike the Gay Prides in the US, the Gay Pride in Paris is not just a parade of associations and promoters for a mostly gay audience oriented to "gay ghetto", it is a parade of gay and straight people, dancing, celebrating, and protesting in front of a mixed audience in the heart of Paris. Gay Prides here are like the Disney parades on main street USA, in Europe it's not so organized in a sense that you can interact with the floats and follow the one you want (depending mostly on the music they are playing!).

MATTHEW MITCHAMSYDNEY GAY MARDI GRAS PARADE

Today in Sydney more than 300,000 people celebrated the annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

The parade kicked off with Olympic gold medal diver Matthew Mitcham [As announced in December] who was on the first float surrounded by male dancers dressed in Speedos and carrying scorecards.



More than 130 floats and 9,500 people participated in the procession, which began as a protest march in 1978 by homosexual and transsexual men and women and has flourished into one of the world’s largest and most flamboyant gay pride events.

This year’s parade theme was “Nations United,” a tribute to homosexuals around the world, particularly in countries where they cannot live openly. Last year in Australia, legislators passed a bill giving homosexual couples the same rights as heterosexuals, though they have not legalized same-sex marriages.

OHLALA MATTHEW MITCHAM TO LEAD SYDNEY MARDI GRAS 2009 PARADE

Australian photographer John McRae has released new photos of Openly gay Olympic gold medallist and Australian Sports Performer of the Year Matthew Mitcham. Two more photos after the jump [John McCrae Photography]

It was officially announced that Matthew will be leading next year's Mardi Gras Parade. Mitcham's participation will be watched by millions of Australians following news that the parade will be televised live exclusively through pay-TV station, FOXTEL. “Mardi Gras has an illustrious history and I’m really proud to now be part of that," he said [SX]

JAMES FRANCO & DREW BARRYMORE SAY NO H8

It is nice to see that some famous Hollywood stars are not afraid to fight against Prop 8 with us.

James Franco Spotted 'accidentally' by one of our readers, Albert (he didn't realize who it was until he went through his pix the next day) at the No On H8 Rally at the intersection of Sunset and Vermont in Silverlake, California. Thanx for the pic :-) I love how Alber wrote "I hate it when people walk in front of my shot. Unless they're... James Franco!" You bet !!!! [What's Up Albert]

PROP 8 PROTEST IN WEST HOLLYWOOD CALIFORNIA

Those past couple of days have been like an emotional roller coster for us. The move from Paris, our new life in California, the election of Barack Obama, and sadly ... the Proposition 8! Tonight a protest rally was organized in West Hollywood. As soon as we have heard we did our best to bring as many people as we could. Right now we are not sure how many took part in this protest but it was a LOT!

We went there with Trent and then our friends Darion and Jordan joined us, then thousands of people ... it was crazy, just like this stupid proposition 8!



The rally took place on San Vicente Blvd. between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Blvd. but it was quickly divided in groups of people who went in different directions, Beverly Hills, Hollywood ... the marches trough the streets of Los Angeles lasted more than 3 hours.



Like I have said it was crazy, we did not planned to block the streets but it just happened and watch below how it felt as an insider ...





Tomorrow another rally is set to take place in Los Angeles at 2pm right in front of the ... Mormon church! Members of the Mormon church from around the country have funneled $22 million into the state of California in order to revoke the existing right of gay and lesbian families to marry.



I believe that if churches wants to be involved in politics they should simply lose their tax exempt status! The economy could always use some extra cash right !? and obviously the mormon church has a lot of extra cash to spend on things like taking away people's rights ... Something to think of Mr President!



UPDATE: Lance Bass who was heading west on Sunset Boulevard last night had a little and friendly encounter with the prop 8 march.

GOING STR8 TO CHURCH! 'SAVE ME' HITS THE SCREENS

Save Me is a deft exploration of the controversial ex-gay movement. The story follows Mark (Chad Allen), a drug-addicted young man who overdoses and finds himself at the mercy of his disapproving family. Their solution to Mark's problems is to check him into a Christian run ministry overseen by Gayle (Judith Light), who believes she can help cure young men of their 'gay affliction' through spiritual guidance. At first, Mark resists the efforts of Gayle and her loving husband Ted (Stephen Lang), but soon finds solace and brotherhood with several of the members, including Scott (Robert Gant), who is battling family demons of his own. When Mark and Scott begin to find their friendship developing into an unexpected romance, both are forced to confront the new attitudes they're beginning to accept, and Gayle finds the values she holds as an absolute truth to be threatened.

Directed by Robert Cary, from a screenplay by Robert Desiderio, Save Me is a love story that offers a complex and timely examination of one of the most polarizing religious and sexual debates in America, while intricately showing the way love (for oneself, most importantly) can heal in all its various forms.
