LA PHOTO DU JOUR

A very cool picture taken in Venezuela where about 900 swimmers took part in The Orinoco river race (one of the largest rivers in the world) only 500 of them reached the finish line! Don't worry nobody drowned, the others were just pushed too far downstream by the strong currents and had to be picked up by boats.

A mysterious light display appearing over Norway last night has left thousands of residents in the north of the country baffled.

Mother nature can do some pretty cool things as we have witness here in Los Angeles a coupld of nights ago [Amazing Sunset in Los Angeles] but that looks man made to me ...

Witnesses from Trøndelag to Finnmark compared the amazing sight to anything from a Russian rocket to a meteor or a shock wave - although no one appears to have mentioned UFOs yet. The phenomenon began when what appeared to be a blue light seemed to soar up from behind a mountain. It stopped mid-air, then began to circulate. Within seconds a giant spiral had covered the entire sky. Then a green-blue beam of light shot out from its centre - lasting for ten to twelve minutes before disappearing completely [source + more photos]

Andy Warhol famous "200 One Dollar Bills" brought $43.8 million at auction, more than three times its highest presale estimate of $12 million.

The 1962 piece was sold at Sotheby's last night. The auction house did not reveal the names of the buyer and seller. The current owner bought it in 1986 for $385,000. It is amazing especially when you know that $200 are worth less than 135 euros. Andy must be smiling down on us right now ;-)

This is Joe Cada, a 21-year old poker professional from Michigan who just won $8.5 million at the World Series of Poker tournament at the Rio hotel-casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Joe who became the youngest to win the World Series of Poker said winning big won’t change his life much at home in Detroit.

Giant painted styrofoam dominoes topple along the route of the former Berlin Wall near the Brandenburg Gate on November 9, 2009 in Berlin, Germany. The approximately 1,000 dominoes, painted by schoolchildren and artists all over the world, are meant to symbolically represent the end of communist rule across Eastern Europe and are the highlight of celebrations in the German capitol marking the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
