Starz / Is Da Vinci The Next Spartacus?

Da Vinci’s Demons, a series about the early years of the famous Renaissance Man is the first project announced under the multi-year production agreement Starz signed with BBC Worldwide Prods earlier this month [Deadline Hollywood]

What a fantastic idea !!!! Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was one of the most amazing polymath, painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer ... so I guess that leaves Starz with tons of storylines ;-)

For those of you fascinated by Da Vinci and visiting Paris, you may want to clear a couple of days on their schedule to visit the beautoful city of Amboise, located south West of Paris, where the great Leonardo da Vinci spent the remaining years of his life.

Some of his inventions are still there and have not been removed. The house has lost some of its original parts, but it still stands today and has a beautiful overlook of the Loire River.

And if you are lucky enough to be able to visit Amboise you may want to stay at (one of the most amazing places Alek and I had the pleasure to stay at) Le Chateau Des Ormeaux. The Couperin room is our favorite :-) and the breakfast served on the gigantic common table is just fantastic. This place is also gay friendly (gay owned!). A must on your next visit to France!

Absolutely Fabulous Is Back !!!!!!! 3 New Episodes On The Way ...

Three new episodes of the popular British comedy series "Absolutely Fabulous" are being made in honor of its 20th anniversary!!!!!!!

Ms. Saunders told the BBC that production had begun on three new specials that would reunite the Patsy and Edina characters with Edina’s daughter, Saffy and her assistant, Bubble, during “life-changing experience for one—which affects them all.”

“Like a good bottle of Champagne,” Ms. Saunders said in a statement, “we hope that we have got better with time without losing any of our sparkle. Last week when we started filming in dear old west London, it was as if nothing had changed. It was raining. Nevertheless, we are so happy to be working for an audience that has grown just a tiny bit older like us but is still willing to let us fall over on TV in the name of P.R.”

France / OhLaLa Les News By Julian Bugier

If you want to improve your French, I would highly recommend to watch the news in French, and the evening news of France 2 during the weekend in particular ;-)

The reason is simple, 30 year old anchor Julian Bugier who is replacing a regular anchor for the rest of the summer ... Julian was voted the hottest man on television in 2009 by a French magazine, but it's not just his good look that got him the prestigious job.

It sure makes my routine of watching the French news poolside from Los Angeles even more enjoyable ...

Meet Jens, 26 year Beamter (public employee) from Hambourg Germany, who has been picked has Mr May by McFit, the largest fitness center chain in Germany with 130 studios and over 850,000 members.

So what to do with all those members!?

Well, they had the good idea to select a member each month and expose him in a professional photoshoot for your viewing pleasure! After all it's a shame to work out so hard if nobody can see and enjoy the result. What a great idea!! Click on the photos for the full size.

When It Comes To Women's Equality Daniel Craig Is A True Lady

The two-minute short, specially commissioned for International Women's Day, sees 007 star Daniel Craig undergo a dramatic makeover as he puts himself, quite literally, in a woman's shoes [source]

"Directed by acclaimed 'Nowhere Boy' director/conceptual artist Sam Taylor-Wood, scripted by Jane Goldman ('Kick Ass') and featuring the voice of Dame Judi Dench reprising her role as 'M', the film will be screened in cinemas and streamed online in a bid to highlight the levels of inequality that persist between men and women in the UK and worldwide. It is the first film featuring Bond to be directed by a woman."

John Galliano Releases A Statement ... And Goes To Rehab

Designer John Galliano who is reportedly headed into rehab has released his first public statement:

"Since the events of last Thursday evening I have not been able to make any public comment on what took place based upon advice from my French lawyer. However, given the continuing delays at the French Prosecutor's Office I should make my position clear.

I completely deny the claims made against me and have fully co-operated with the Police investigation.

A number of independent witnesses have given evidence and have told the Police that I was subjected to verbal harassment and an unprovoked assault when an individual tried to hit me with a chair having taken violent exception to my look and my clothing. For these reasons I have commenced proceedings for defamation and the threats made against me.

However, I fully accept that the accusations made against me have greatly shocked and upset people.

I must take responsibility for the circumstances in which I found myself and for allowing myself to be seen to be behaving in the worst possible light. I only have myself to blame and I know that I must face up to my own failures and that I must work hard to gain people's understanding and compassion. To start this process I am seeking help and all I can hope for in time is to address the personal failure which led to these circumstances and try and earn people's forgiveness.

I have fought my entire life against prejudice, intolerance and discrimination having been subjected to it myself. In all my work my inspiration has been to unite people of every race, creed, religion and sexuality by celebrating their cultural and ethnic diversity through fashion. That remains my guiding light.

Anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologise for my behaviour in causing any offence."

One thing is for sure, the video that we have seen is only a part of what happened that night! And without (in any means) taking his defense, the people who were talking to John Galliano that night do not sound really offended or even upset by his verbal agression but rather amused and entertained by his comments. Trust me if someone talked to me like that I would not be giggling while my friends record the event, I would have turned the tables over his head and probably end the night in jail for starting a fight and beating the hell out of a drunk ass designer ...

Galliano, will go before a court in the second quarter of 2011, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
