Starz has released a bunch of promo images of the cast of Spartacus: Vengeance that includes Spartacus, Crixus, Oenomaus, Gannicus, Lucretia, Glaber, Mira, Ashur, Ilithyia, Naevia, Agron, Seppius and Seppia [source] All the photos after the jump.
After the first images and the first trailer of Spartacus: Vengeance ['Spartacus: Vengeance' With Liam McIntyre Kicks Off In January] Starz just released a new trailer for the upcoming second season of Spartacus.
Those are the new promo images for Spartacus: Vengeance with Australian actor Liam McIntyre in the role of Spartacus, made famous by Andy Whitfield who died in September after battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Spartacus: Vengeance begins just a few weeks after that famous "Kill Them All" first season finale. According to Starz, the story is that Capua is in an uproar. The gladiators have escaped and formed an uneasy alliance. Spartacus wants to exact revenge on the man responsible for killing his wife, but he will soon understand his life is about something greater than avenging Sura's death. His mission is to build an army, set free the slaves and topple the Roman Empire.
Spartacus: Vengeance, premieres on Starz Jan. 27 at 10 p.m.
Andy Whitfield, who starred in the television series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” died on Sunday in Sydney, Australia. He was 39.
Andy Whitfield was diagnosed 18 months ago while preparing for the second season of Spartacus. Starz announced in January that Liam McIntyre, another Australian actor, would take over the role.
In a statement, Whitfield’s wife Vashti called her husband a “beautiful young warrior who died on a “sunny Sydney morning” in her arms.
After The Walking Dead here is another trailer from Comic Con, the long-delayed second season of Starz's drama Spartacus to premiere in january 2012.
The second season tittled Spartacus: Vengeance, the plan “is to kill more people,” DeKnight said. “There’s an episode where we kill a lot of people. This season is just epic. It’s grand scale... Have you watched this week's episode of Spartacus!? Well I have to say that I am a bit disappointed by the fact that it turned out to be a 95% straight-soft-porn as suppose to a 95% gay-soft-porn. This new season makes me really really miss Andy Whitfield :-(
Also, I have noticed something quite "interesting". Since the first season we know that some actors are using prosthetic "devices" aka plastic penises and some guys felt comfortable not using anything.
Well to my surprise, in this week's episode it seems that Manu Bennett who plays Crixus had a change of heart. Indeed as we clearly saw in Episode 5 of the first season a Manu Bennett au naturel. But in this week's apisode it appeared much larger. Maybe it is the long hair tricking the scale, but I doubt it ;-) See for yourself AFTER THE JUMP. Yes that was how much I was bored in this week's episode thiking to myself "hmm, Manu Bennett penis seems much larger this season..."
I know can I spot the most ridiculous things in movies, but I am the guy who will notice details such as props being misplaced or hair looking different in a scene.
