KIM KARDASHIAN AKA BARBIE & JOSH by TONY DURAN FOR KURV

As much as I feel a little nauseous seeing a Kardashian [nothing personal I am just over tv reality in any form] I have to admit that I LOVE this 'Kim Kardashian takes on Barbie' shot by the talented Tony Duran for Kurv magazine. Early Spetember we had our first look at the story [Barbi Kim Kardashian by Tony Duran] Today here is an extended look at this great editorial. We also like very much Ken [Josh -Bleu models]



“The Barbie shoot came about because of a worlds first partnership between Mattel Inc and Kurv Magazine to celebrate the pop culture icons 50th anniversary by having Barbie become the Guest Editor of Kurv. 018.”

Tony Duran “ I was approached by Kurv Magazine to shoot a story that related to the iconic ‘Barbie” image. A lot of different thoughts ran through my head, but one thing I wanted to do was stay away from being too literal and stray too far from my style of photography. I did not want the shoot to become too camp. I was trying to think of the right girl that represented the type of image I wanted..."

“...What Barbie represents to me is a sort of a timeline of women in American history- all packaged up in a bit over the top-almost unachievable figure. A bit of Jessica rabbit does the history channel! In my mind—Barbie is at best- a blonde—so when the outrageously curvy Kim Kardashian called and said she was going blonde for the week, it was game on...”



“...The idea behind the shoot was to capture the different characters of Barbie—western Barbie, Safari Barbie, etc. But I wanted the shoot to look like a timeless fashion shoot as opposed to a caricature -so for the most part we kept the clothing all in blacks and deep greys-very monochromatic. Kim’s hourglass figure was the basis of the story and different interpretations of her blonde hair showcased the character. We tended to go extreme with the hair to give it a bit of a push editorially, but keeping the classic side of the shoot shining through. We went with vintage pieces to authentically represent each character fashion wise...”

“...Kim was able to balance the many sides of Barbie as she bounced from ethereal bride to the sex kitten future Barbie. It was very cool to see this whole new look for Kim. In my mind, she has never looked better!..." [source - source]

TONY DURAN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW FOR BELLO MAG

In the new issue of BELLO mag available worldwide since this morning, an exclusive interview with Los Angeles based photographer Tony Duran, after the release of the 10th anniversary issue of the famous Dieux Du Stade Calendar.

Tony Duran is talking about his Parisian experience, like shooting naked rugby men in 45 degrees [which is about 7 degrees celsius] and how he empathized with the players by ripping his clothes off ... not all the way but enough to say - I feel for you!!



But also on the amazing hard cover coffee table book project [which was only done once in the past by Francois Rousseau] The book should be out by the end of April 2010. He also answered to a few fun questions from my dearest Proust Questionary, about reincarnation, favorite heroes of fiction, greatest fear, most treasure possession ... BARBIE KIM KARDASHIAN by TONY DURAN FOR KURV MAGAZINE

Tonight we have spent some time with Tony Duran and while looking at some of his latest photoshoot, we had a preview of a series he did with a barbie blond Kim Kardashian and a super hot male model Josh [Bleu Models] for the upcoming issue of Kurv magazine.



I think the magazine will be out next week so we will be able to see the entire series. This is the only shoot Kim did while being blond and she is looking hot, in some shots she looks like Jennifer Lopez!

OHLALA FIRST LOOK! DIEUX DU STADE 2010 CALENDAR

In 2010 the famous Dieux Du Stade calendar will turn 10! So in order to celebrate they went all the way to Los Angeles and asked Tony Duran to come to Paris to shoot naked rugby players ... of course he said yes. Naked people are kind of his speciality!

Back in June we have announced that Tony Duran shot the calendar in Paris [2010 Dieux Du Stade Calendar by Tony Duran] Which is the promise for the most explosive calendar ever.

47 pages! That is not your grandma's calendar anymore with just one cat in basket per month ... no that makes 3,916666666666667 guys per month! With as the cherry on the gateaux a HUGE double faced poster commemorating the 217 athlete hotties who've gotten naked for the project since 2001!

Big things happened to Jamie Dominic music-wise lately. The regular readers would remember that we have talked about other Jamie's big talent, Music [Jamie Dominic in LaLaLand] Jamie just joined a band called 'Into The Mirror' and since music is his biggest passion those photos may be the last of Jamie Domnic for a while ... let's hope he will find the right balance between music and modeling :-)
